In order to clarify speculation relating to the possibility of public funding supporting the upcoming Parker/Ruiz world title fight, ATEED CE Brett O’Riley said today, “ATEED, on behalf of Auckland Council, will not be making a financial contribution to the world title boxing fight which is expected to be held in Auckland in December.”
In the time since Auckland’s Major Events Strategy was approved by Auckland Council in 2011, ATEED-sponsored major events have contributed $247 million to the regional economy and 1,548,000 visitor nights (from 2011/12 FY – 2015/16 FY).
