We have some new faces joining the ACB whānau, and we are thrilled to welcome Glen Bailey to our team. Glen joins ACB as our Event Services Manager, and will be a key part of activating all our amazing engagement opportunities we have with the global business event community.
Here is a little bit more about Glen:
For the first 18 years of his life, Glen lived on a farm in the Te Whanganui-a Tara / Wellington region. After high school, he moved to Wellington City to study performing arts, and as a performer, travelled the country top to tail, twice. After his father passed at age 49, he decided life was to short and embarked on his next adventure of living in Zhōngguó, China where he taught English for 14 months. After a short return to Aotearoa New Zealand, London was his next home for four years, where he started in his events career booking airport transfers for a major product launch in Portugal.
Glen brings a wealth of knowledge from Auckland University of Technology Events team, primarily as an in-house Professional Conference Organiser and team leader, a role that grew and evolved over the 9 years he was with them. It was there where he met and engaged with a huge number of Auckland event professionals.
I really feel my career path has taken a natural journey both across the world and across career genres. It has allowed me to see different ways of life and communication styles including learning to speak, read and write conversational Chinese from scratch. Always at the core of it though, was people - performing for, teaching to, or engaging with."
He aha te mea nui o te ao | What is the most important thing in the world?
He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata | It is the people, it is the people, it is the people!
In his previous role, Glen worked in partnership with Auckland Convention Bureau for several years and is excited to now be part of the ACB whānau.
Outside of work, Glen and his daughter can be found enjoying the beautiful beaches, scenic reserves and walks, or local events the region has to offer.
Glen is looking forward to this next step in his career, to working with and for many industry colleagues he already knows, and ultimately helping to showcase our fantastic city to each other, to Aotearoa, and to the world.
You can connect with Glen via [email protected] or on his LinkedIn.
